History
CampLIFE! was founded in 2002 as a way for John and Lynette Gillis
of Austin, Texas to give a free camp experience to kids who would
normally not experience it. With the help of family and a whole bunch
of friends, John and Lynette welcomed a few dozen kids from The
Methodist Children Home for a weekend of water skiing, canoing,
sailing and other fun camp activities.
Over the past 6 years it has expanded to include more than one
weekend a year and other groups have experienced CampLIFE!
such as the Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) group based out of
Ft. Hood in Killeen, TX. We also partner with the U.S. TAPS program,
which is short for Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
